So just lately I am yet again finding myself sick of the types of models chosen for fashion weeks. Although there has been some improvement into diversity, for me it is still over run by skinny white girls. While there is always going to be a market for European models I think it’s about time to let the rest of the world in.
Here are my favourite faces that I follow.
With the looks of a 1950s pinup and a cheeky Instagram feed showing off her beautiful curves she is fast becoming one of my women crushes and its great to see a woman who is proud of her body. Signed to Models1Curve, she has starred in campaigns for Dita Von Teese’s lingerie line, vintage inspired shoots and is a proud supporter for the #droptheplus campaign
The Australian fashion blogger caught my eye because of her confidence, amazing style aesthetic, which is shown on her blog and Instagram feed and her signature short hair. Although not a signed model she has worked with Lexus, and Range rover and frequently shows Josh Goot pieces.
I think Asian models are so under represented in the western media and Vanessa was the first to really catch my eye for her unique appearance. Again being a blogger she is not a signed model but I think the two go hand in hand when you have your own blog. I love the simplicity of her styling and nonchalance attitude.
I’ll be honest I hadn’t heard of Nykhor before last week but her statement about fashion week makeup artists made me laugh at the ignorance of some people. She is absolutely stunning and her complexion is flawless, I hope she can bring further awareness for Sudanese and other African models.
let me know what you think!
